In a rut!

It’s really bad when you know that you are in a rut, you acknowledge that you are in a rut, but yet you do nothing to get yourself out of it.

That’s my problem in a nutshell right now.  I’m in a rut, and I guess it’s part of the reason why I signed up on here, to take a chance and try to break myself out of this rut.  Everyday I seem to have this incessant need to just fill up every moment with noise.  It’s like I’m afraid that I might sit down and actually be creative for a moment.  And, of course, if I’m creative and make something I’ll have to share it, and it’s like George McFly said “What if they don’t like it? I just don’t think I could take that kind of rejection!”

Issues.. I’ve got a few.

So, I guess this becomes my grand experiment.  To do something different, to break out of the rut, to explore creativity, and actually *gasp* share it with the world!  Here goes nothing.

The Anniversary

As I said before, I’m not really sure where to go with this blog, so I hope no one minds the randomness of it all.

Friday was my anniversary.  It’s been 5 great years with my wife.  I’ll save the gushy hearts and flowers stuff for another time.  We celebrated by spending an afternoon in Downtown.  We went to the Taubman Art Museum.  It’s a very nice museum with a good mixture of abstract, modern and classic art pieces.  We wandered around Downtown, just enjoying the day and each other’s company.  It’s something we really don’t get to do very often and it just felt very nice, no preset plan, no schedules to keep, just following our hearts around town.

After that, we went to Barnes & Noble.  I’m an avid reader, I always have to have a book.  As I am finishing one book, I’m already thinking about which one I want to read next.  Well B&N kinda sucked because they didn’t have anything I wanted, and those that did look interesting were way too expensive.

That, followed by dinner at Applebees was our anniversary celebration.  I know, when does the party ever STOP!  It’s really not that important to me what we were doing.  We don’t need some super fancy dinner and gifts, we just need to spend a day together, enjoying each other’s company.  McDonalds can be a 5-star feast if you are in the right company.  It’s these little joys in life that make everything worthwhile.

Hello there!

Well, I’ve gone and done it.  I’ve gotten myself one of them new fangled bloggie deals that all the kids are talking about.

Seriously though, this is my blog.  I’m not sure what will go up here yet, but we are all along for the ride.  I like to think I have some minute amount of writing skill, so I will at least try to entertain while I post.

Who am I though?  I’m a big dork, way too opinionated and I have a penchant for dressing in plastic.  I’m a Star Wars geek at heart, but I also love movies, music, games, books, a little bit of everything.  I’m TK-5990 of the 501st Legion.  We are those cool guys dressed in Stormtrooper armor you see at events.  I’m married to an amazing woman, who completes me in every possible way, check out her artwork here  Yes, it’s a shameless plug, but she really is quite talented.

That’s about all I can think of for now, I’ll try to keep the updates interesting and entertaining.
